Swedish Mining Initiative “Innovative Mining – Safe, Smart & Sustainable” conference

On the 26th of November 2014, Business Sweden together with the Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish partner companies Atlas Copco, Volvo, Scania and Sandvik arranged the conference Swedish Mining Initiative “Innovative Mining – Safe, Smart & Sustainable”. This was the 3rd time that this hard rock mining conference was arranged in Perth. Over 160 delegates from top tier companies within both the Swedish and the Australian mining industry attended the conference.

The conference was further attended by Hon. Bill Marmion, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum; Housing – WA Government and Dr. Paul Heithersay, Deputy Chief Executive, Resources and Energy – SA Government. Both of them held inspiring speeches about the current situation within the Australian Mining industry.

The purpose of the conference was to create a platform for knowledge exchange and constructive discussion to further build on already strong ties between Sweden and Australia within the mining industry. During the day there were some great discussions and the feedback from the participating delegates have been nothing but positive. The participating companies were also very pleased with the arrangement in terms of approached companies within the sector, the high-level management attending and the interesting business dialogues that took place during the many networking sessions.
